Recently, I did a detailed expose on the Konga affiliate program and today, I’m going to reveal the different ways you can make money with Jumia. If you don’t know what Jumia is or you’ve never heard of it, I’ll be really surprised. Even when I wasn’t very active on the Internet, I had heard about it. Jumia is the direct competitor to Konga and Kilimall and they have a presence in over 23 african countries.
It also happens to support different ventures: Jumia market, Travel, Food, Deals and House. But what is most known for is it’s trusted online shopping store which also provides delivery services. Okay let’s skip the introduction, if you want to know more about Jumia, Google can help, I actually wrote this post to equip you with information on how to make money on Jumia.
There are four main ways to make money with Jumia:
- Sell on Jumia
- Become an Affiliate Partner
- Become a Sales consultant
- Become a Jumia Vendor Service Provider
Let’s take it one at a time so you can make the choice that best suits you.
Sell on Jumia
I can’t actually talk about selling on Jumia based on experience because I haven’t tried it but I hope to expose you to the idea of selling on Jumia so that if you like it, you can do your own research and actually become one of their sellers.
Jumia is offering you the opportunity to grow your business on their platform by allowing you to create your own shop online and sell your products across the country. Basically, they connect sellers to customers by giving them access to over 200 million potential buyers that visit their site at very low costs. They also give you the opportunity to belong to an engaging community of e-commerce experts and receive marketing and data analytics support to take your business to the next level.
And the best thing is it’s free.
REQUIREMENTS FOR SELLING?
- A functional email address
- A phone number
- Bank Account Details
- A laptop and Internet service
WHAT TYPE OF PRODUCTS CAN YOU SELL?
You can sell products of almost any category: Phones and Tablets, Fashion products, Home and Office, Computing, Cameras, Electronics, Watches, Sunglasses, Baby and kids products, Toys, Health and Beauty, Automobile, Sport and Fitness, Games and Consoles, Service Deals, Books, Movies and Music, Weddings, Groceries.
Since you will be a Jumia vendor, there are actually some things you can’t sell: Currencies, hacking-related articles, organs, fake documents, stolen or counterfeit goods, weapons and ammunition of any kind, explosive or flammable materials and many others.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
- Register by visiting this link and filling the registration form.
- You will be required to submit the required documents such as your business registration and bank account details.
- You need to complete the training for new sellers at Jumia University. At the University, you will be taught offline and online classes about running your store.
- Then you can activate your seller center from where you manage the products and operations on your e-commerce shop.
- List your products and start selling.
Jumia only receives a percentage of your selling price on each item you sell depending on the category of the item as their commission. They will also deduct value-added services fee from your payment.
Become a Jumia Affiliate Partner
An affiliate partner is an active participant in the Jumia affiliate program. Just like all affiliate programs, you earn a commission for selling products and services offered by Jumia. Therefore, they give you commissions for sales on the website, application installs and sales made on the android application.
Jumia’s affiliate program is a little different from Konga’s. Although the concept remains the same and you are paid when someone who clicked on your affiliate link buys something based on the commission rate for the product, they also record the number of times potential customers clicked on your banner or unique link and if that customer buys a product within thirty days, you receive the commission. And unlike Konga’s affiliate program, payments for the previous month are made automatically at the beginning of every month.
Customer clicks your affiliate link + Customer comes back to buy a product within thirty days = You get paid the commission for the product bought.
Here is a table of the commission provided to affiliate partners for every product sold provided by Jumia themselves.
You are provided with tools for attracting customers to buy goods online on Jumia. They have banners as well as link builders that allows you to send people to any page you choose with your unique affiliate link.
All you need to do is sign up:
And almost immediately, you will receive an email, at least I did:

The Jforce sales Consultant program also has a rewards system with which they reward your efforts such that the more you sell, the higher your commissions get along with some other advantages. So you have the chance to move through the Sales consultant scale:
